Holistic living isn’t just for hippies
What does holistic mean anyway?
I ask because it has become such a buzzword but do we ever think of the importance of such an approach in our own day-to-day lives?
Holism relates to the interdependence of all parts of a whole. If we consider ourselves as the whole then we need to be sure we are satisfying all its parts.
I don’t know about you but I often forget about certain parts of my whole.
And when I do, I start to feel unsatisfied and unbalanced.
For instance I don’t truly feel happy unless I have incorporated into my day a bit of exercise, ‘headspace’ or chill time, creative time, good quality sleep, healthy eating and time with my loved ones. For those of us with busy or unusual schedules, we know, it can be difficult to find the balance.
After years of just work and no play, exercise but no chill time, good food but very poor sleep, I wondered why I was so drained and feeling down all the time.
It was only after a big life change that although I was still working a lot, I had a much more balanced lifestyle. With the balance, came renewed energy, a much more positive outlook, and a much more overall general feeling of well-being. Now that I’ve sampled this, I never want to go back.
Rest assured, it’s not as hard as it seems when you have someone there giving you a hand. We all know that sometimes you just need a gentle reminder or even a gentle push. Health coaches are perfect for that.
